Circuit City Doesn’t Get It
Looks like Circuit City is trying it’s best to implode — they are laying off 8% of their sales staff. Now, this isn’t the poor performers — it’s the highest paid portion. While this might make sense when you are trying to meet street expectations this quarter, it seems very short sighted when you look at your company’s future. Sure, some of these highest paid employees might not be very good — but I would bet the majority of them are the ones that are actually doing most of the sales for the company. It’s this 8% that is probably a big reason that people actually come back to Circuit City.
What happened to the “old” days when companies actually cared about their customers instead of just the bottom line?
